Tioman Island is the largest in the a group of 64 volcanic islands which includes Pulau Sei Buat, Pulau Sembilang, Pulau Tulai , Pulau Chebeh , Pulau Labas and Pulau Renggis is located 80km northwest off Peninsular Malaysia's east coast.
According to a local folklore this island is the resting place of a fabled dragon princess who had turned herself into an island in the South China Sea and become truly one of the most beautiful islands in the region.
Express Bus services and taxis ply the routes from major towns to Kuantan. This is also daily buses plying the route of Kuala Lumpur directly to Mersing jetty.
From Mersing jetty , you can then take a boat or ferry to Tioman Island.Tioman Island is within easy reach from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. There are several possibilities to come to the island.
From Mersing of Tanjung Gemuk, Tioman Island is just a 3 to 4 hour boat ride away. If you prefer a shorter comfortable ride, air-conditioned fast ferries which depart daily can make the trip in approximately 2hours.
There are a number of resorts to stay at on Pulau Tioman. I suggest that you stay at Paya Beach Resort. You will loved it as it was a compact place right next to the beach with enough facilities for our needs!

Pulau Tioman Marine Park
*The marine area around Pulau Tioman and eight other nearby islands have been gazetted as marine parks and marine reserves, confined to an area two nautical... miles from the coast.
If you want Chinese food, you can have it at the Salang Beach Chinese Restaurant. I wonder how was the food here.
For breakfast, you can try the roti chennai at Salang Indah Restaurant or Salang Dream Restaurant.
In this booming business of restaurants and cafes, you will find some small Malay stalls selling nasi lemak or simple food. Salang is almost self-contained. There were few mini marts selling anything from instant noodle to disposal underwear. Price here was a little higher than the main land.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE FOODS
As far as food is concerned, there were plenty and varieties. I was amazed. This was certainly no kampung. The famous Ramly burger was here too. Though Starbucks was not here, you still could find mocha or latte here. Who knows, maybe KFC will be here in the future! You must get BBQ fish at RM10.00 at the busy Salang Indah Restaurant.
Further down the path, there was the White House Cafe which you can found the fried noodle very delicious at RM4.00.
The setting here was beautiful. Very basic tables and chairs by the sea. They also sold BBQ seafood here. You cannot miss it because it was painted all white.
