DESTINATION 9 : Gua Tempurung, Gopeng, Perak











Gua Tempurung is located in Gopeng, about 25km south of Ipoh, Gua Tempurung is made up of five huge domes which ceilings resemble coconut shells, hence the name ‘tempurung’ came about.

With each dome having different formations of stalagmites and stalactites, they also differ from one another in temperature, water levels, contents of limestone and marbles.

Classification: Karst cave. It is a cave of marble limestone (calcite calcium) of the Kinta   limestone type.
Cave Age: More than 400 million years old.
Cave Length: 1.9 km.
Cave Height: 120 metres.

How to get there?





You can reach at Gua Tempurung with any transportation because it is not a forest. Located in Lembah Tempurung near Gopeng, Perak, Gua Tempurung is also can reachable via the North-South PLUS Expressway. Take the Gopeng exit, and from there, turn left (southwards), heading towards Kampar. A further 5 km drive up ahead, then turn left and go up a further 2 km to reach Gua Tempurung.




ACTIVITIES:
  • The short tours provide basic information about the cave and are suitable for those with little time to spare. The several guide will guided the tour in the form of groups. 
  • For the more adventures, longer excursions will definitely satisfy their curiosity. 
  •  The tours normally take 2 to 3.5 hours through an underground river and finish on the other end. 
  • You will be able to see various stalactite and stalagmite formations, many of which are still growing until today. Some even resemble certain figures and beings, depending on your imagination.
  • From the Golden Flow-stone Cavern, ‘Gergasi’ (Giant) Cavern, Tin Mine Cavern, ‘Alam’ (Universe) Cavern to Fallen Warrior and Battlefield Cavern, each dome has its own peculiar features – all you have to do is just explore!

Before you entrance into the cave, you must bring the torchlight because inside the cave, it was totally dark. If you are forgot to bring it, never mind the stall nearby sell it too.


There are many types of shape such as someone's face, lion, deer, a driver, pregnant women and others.You will excited to see that.


Inside the cave, you also can see the stalagmites, stalactites and other amazing rock formations that are superb speleological wonders, found only in this part of the world. 




You will crawl under the stone. Sometimes its water is high level and you must to be careful while crawl inside this. 


Make sure you are in the team because once you leave your team, you will be loss. At the bottom (left) of the picture is the exit out of the cave.
